Aim & Objectives

The BA (Honours) Accountancy aims to meet the needs of professional development to provide relevant knowledge, skills and competencies for people who plan to move into an accounting career in order that they might understanding and resolve effectively current and future problems related to the profession.

BA (Hons) Accountancy – Year 1 Programme Structure

Year 1 programme consists of 6 modules and can be completed in 12 months, through open distance learning in Hong Kong.

Semester 1 (6 months)

§         Financial Accounting Fundamentals

  • Principles of Economics

§         Quantitative Methods for Accountants

Semester 2 (6 months)

§         Management Accounting Fundamentals

  • Introduction to Law for Accountants
  • Business Environment IT/IS

Entry Requirements

Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications:

·         Foundation Certificate in Commerce from CED School of Business

·         Form 7 with 2 A-Level passes + HKCEE English pass

·         Certificate holders from VTC

·         Year-1 Associate Degree

·         Mature entrant (21 years + 2 years working experience)

·         LCCI Diploma

·         IAB Member

BA (Hons) Accountancy – Year 2 Programme Structure

Year 2 programme consists of 6 modules and can be completed in 12 months, through open distance learning in Hong Kong.

  • Personal & Business Taxation
  • Work Experience

Entry Requirements

Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications:

·         Year-1 of a Degree

·         the equivalent of 120 credits out of 360 credits for other qualifications.

·         AAT

·         ACCA 4 papers (1-4)

·         CIMA Stage-2

·         AIA Foundation

·         IFA Technician

BA (Hons) Accountancy – Final Year Programme Structure

The programme consists of 6 modules and can be completed in 12 months, through open distance learning in Hong Kong.

§         Management Accounting Control Systems

  • Advanced Auditing Practice (HK Variant)

§         Financial Reporting & Regulatory Framework

Semester 2 (6 months)

§         Advanced Taxation (HK Variant)

  • Corporate Strategy
  • Investigative Study

Entry Requirements

Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications:

·         Higher Diploma in Accountancy

·         Diploma in Accounting from HKU SPACE

·         PPAF from VTC

·         Professional Diploma in Accounting from HKMA

·         Higher Certificate in Accountancy plus relevant work experience.

·         ACCA 8 papers (1-8)

·         AIA 12 papers (1-12)

·         CIMA stage 3

·         IFA Associate member

·         NIA (Australia) Associate member

·         HKSA member

Graduation & Recognition

Graduates of this programme will receive the same award as full-time students in UK, a Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree from The University of Bolton, United Kingdom. They will be allowed to use the prestigious letter BA (Hons) after their names.
